I noticed a clicking/popping sound when I have the car stopped and turn to the left to a certain point. Sounds almost plasticy, not really metal to metal. It doesnt do it all the time, mostly after I have been driving for a while. If I sit there and turn the wheel to the left and back over and over it repeats the popping/clicking/cracking sound.

So lately I'm getting a pretty persistent and loud popping noise when the wheel is turned near full lock. It's mostly noticeable every time when making sharp lefts at low speeds like in and out of parking lots, but I notice it pulling away from stoplights and even in reverse sometimes. Also notice it turning right, but not as loud or often. Noise: Clicking while decelerating from 20 miles per hour to a complete stop. Cause: Worn carrier case-side gear bores. Noise: Rumble or clicking that gets worse during hard turns. Cause: Bad wheel bearings. Noise: Driveline squeaking or grinding at any speed. Cause: Worn or damaged U-joints.

NOISE IS GONE. No more creak or clicking going into reverse or drive from a stop , no more creaking in traffic. I love driving my car again, because it does not feel like im hurting her anymore. It is the rear brake callipers releasing I am sure because the rear of the car rises slightly before the bang and then the handbrake is then fully off !. After this when driving slowly you can hear a very similar noise, I suspect it is the brake pad catching on the surface rust that has been collected over night. Figure 3. When an axle wears, the joint no longer smoothly articulates. This in turn causes a grinding noise when it catches at a stiff spot. Worn out brake pads will make noise when applying the brakes, but can also make noise when going through a turn. This is because the geometry of the suspension changes, which can also cause the brake pads to make. Same noise now over small bumps at lower speeds driving straight or turning. Basically hear it all the time except at high speeds. Noise is usually one loud pop followed by lots of smaller clicks kind of like bad CV joint (s). Self diagnosis: Checked the vacuum lines heading to the front wheels which powers the 4x4.

I put the car in reverse and let off the brake I hear the click coming from the rear drivers side. It only clicks once but it is every time I put it into reverse.

From my past experience, a wheel bearing would make a roaring type noise at speed and change pitch when you would shift weight on/off of the offending wheel. I had one go bad in the rear of my old 540, and it was a roar at speed. Hey All, I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab 4x4 with the 5.7 hemi and automatic transmission. I bought it used 4 years ago from a dealer. Since a few months after I bought it (in 2016) it has been making an ever more prominent clicking noise when I'm driving. I have spent the past four years trying to figure out what it is but have had. And one more thing, could be the transfer case chain stretching, but not if it is coming from one of the wheel areas. I have the same issue on my 2005 Liberty Renegade w/90,000miles. Sounds like it is coming from both back wheels and only happens at very low speed (5-15 mph) and especially when turning.

I tried checking them with the wheels in the air and trying to rock the tires, NOTHING, solid as a rock! Swapped out the bearings and the noise is gone!. It doesnt make noise while turning so I'm sure it isnt worn wheel bearings or CV-joints, it also doesnt occur when I'm just driving, so I'm sure it's not a rock or nail in the tire. From in the cab it sound like it’s coming from the right rear. After some inspection, I’m quite certain it’s coming from the leaf spring hanger at the rear of the leaf spring. I assume you can buy the rubber ....
